Retention

Retention is calculated backward, measuring the number of times/ratio a certain metric appears within a subsequent period.

Retention analysis is a necessary step in the digital transformation process after business onlineization, and it is the foundation of refined operational growth. In customer management and product operation scenarios, user retention rate is a key indicator. After launching a new product or initiating a promotional campaign, it may be necessary to frequently focus on retention situations, frequently assess the product's status, and make timely adjustments.

Retention Types

Retention supports three types:

  • New Customer Retention
  • Old Customer Retention
  • Total Retention

  • New Customer Retention

New customers are those who appear within a specified time period but have never appeared before that specified time.

New customer retention is the calculation of the retention of new customers within a specified time period over a subsequent time period.

  • Old Customer Retention

Old customers are those who have appeared before the specified time and also appear within the specified time.

Old customer retention is the calculation of the retention of old customers within a specified time period over a subsequent time period.

  • Total Retention

Total customers are all customers who appear within the specified time period.

Total retention is the calculation of the retention of all customers within a specified time period over a subsequent time period.
